This was truly a revelation. I was getting started with funeral doom, working on something with my headphones on... Then came Déluge... my jaw actually dropped, I stopped what I was doing and, wide-eyed, just listened to the track, baffled and amazed. After the album was over (I never do this), I went to lay down with my headphones to enjoy it over again. I rarely heard (and felt) this much power and emotion in an album. Until I find something better, this is my landmark for peak funeral doom.

Déhà n'a jamais caché son admiration pour Shape of Despair et on ressent l'influence de ce groupe dans cette démo qui accompagne la naissance de Slow sobrement intitulée I. Dans ce beau morceau de funeral doom metal, c'est la dimension atmosphérique qui est la plus importante, faisant office d'ouverture, de conclusion et même d'interlude ; la guitare et la batterie sont joués avec parcimonie — ils n'apparaissent d'ailleurs qu'au bout de cinq minutes. I est un point de vue original sur le genre.

Silence Lives Out/Over Whirlpool : ce premier album nous indique que le patronyme SLOW n'est pas qu'une apologie de la lenteur extrême mais aussi un acronyme à double sens, presque comme si on pouvait admettre l'orthographe SL∞W... S'il étend le concept de Demo - I, "Silence Lives Out Whirlpool" nous aspire dans un tourbillon qui nous entraîne au cœur des abysses ; le funeral doom metal a des allures de drone. Et alors que nous frôlons la noyade, la seconde piste nous donne enfin de l'oxygène.
